Area Spotlight - Gloucester Docks

February, 2016

Situated in the heart of the city alongside the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, Gloucester Docks is the most inland port in Britain.  Gloucester Docks was once a bustling ship yard and thriving trade entrance which was described as ‘extraordinary’ by Charles Dickens.

After falling into disrepair, the docks has undergone huge transformations in the last decade following multi-million pound investments by The Peel Group.  The towering warehouses still remain however they now house luxury apartments.  Planners have made excellent work in keeping the heritage of the docks alive whilst allowing new purpose built apartment buildings to be built.

The Quays Designer Outlet covers a large area in the docks and attracts thousands of visitors each year.  The Quays host a variety of large scale events including the popular food festival and Christmas Market.  The Quays will also host the ‘Fan Zone’ for the 2015 Ruby World Cup.

Residents and visitors to the docks will not be short for ideas on where to eat.  There are a number of cafes, restaurants and bars offering a wide selection of cuisines.  From the Italian, family run Café Correto to the popular restaurant chain ZiZi.  The state of the art cinema complex attracts thousands of film buffs each week.

With all that is on offer at the docks it is no surprise that properties here are extremely popular.  Residents vary from the young professional to retirees looking for the easy life.

To purchase in the docks prices range from £125,000 for a 1 bedroom apartment up to £350,000 for a luxury 2 bedroom penthouse.  Renting an apartment in the docks will range from £575 per calendar month up to £1,200pcm.
